Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Isolated Subjects

CFFC (Cee’s Photography

Yesterday was a tough day.  I was feeling really tired and had a hard time clearing the fog in my brain.  I have been walking everyday, but it’s tough to fight the fatigue mentally and physically, so I listened to my body and rested.  After dinner though, I got a burst of energy and immediately put on my walking shoes and hit the pavement before the energy was gone.  I came upon this abandoned rose in the middle of the sidewalk.  I took a quick pick and continued on so I wouldn’t lose my momentum, but I wondered about that rose.  Why was it there?  Who dropped it?  Why?  Did someone get their heart broken tonight?  Did someone lose a loved one or were they remembering someone?  Did someone throw it to the ground in anger and stomp on it to hurt whoever hurt them?  So many possibilities and I’ll never know which one.

Tuesday’s if Texture: Flower bud

Tuesdays of Texture (de monte y mar)

Went for a walk this morning and saw this open lily bud…all those little pieces somehow become the beautiful flowers I pass every morning.  Nature is amazing😄

52 Weeks Photo Challenge:Week 31 – Empty Space

Empty Space (The Girl that Dreams Awake)

I took my little charges for a walk this week to get out some energy.  They walked and played games ahead of and around me as I tried to earn my step goal for the day.  Part of my motivations for walking is finding things to photograph.  I try to spot things in the distance that I want to see closer and possibly may want to take a pic.  I found this empty snail shell on the paved part of the path we took.  There were actually quite a few empty shells around.  It made me wonder if they all died or got too big for their shells or some other theory I couldn’t think of.  I am hoping they didn’t die, but who knows.  As we got further on our walk and onto the dirt trail, we began to be surrounded by wild flowers.  Apparently when a long drought comes to an end, it is often marked by an abundance of wild flowers.  I have certainly seen them around in patches for sure.  The following pictures are just a few patches we saw on our walk.

Color Your World – Scarlet

CYW (Jennifer Nichole Wells)

I got out for a walk this morning and saw these Scarlet beauties.  Though having my phone die on me recently was a serious pain in the butt, having to upgrade to a newer and better phone does have it’s benefits.  The one I’m loving the most right now is the camera.  The pictures are so much clearer and brighter.  It has also become a motivation to get out and take more pictures again, motivation I dearly need at the moment.  Here’s to a great week.

I know it’s been a really long time since I have posted anything.  My Chronic Fatigue has been really bad lately due to a bunch of factors, so I had to take care of myself for a bit.  In the last week, I have started walking again and shot this picture with my phone.  It feels good to be coming out of the fog finally.  I’m going to start posting again, but probably not everyday just yet.  Here’s to a new week, getting back into life, and catching up with everything that’s been going on all over.

ATOP (The Daily Post)

My husband and I were looking for new trails to walk and found this great place.  There were several different trails to try all varying in degree of difficulty.  I took the easier trail since hills are still a problem for me while my husband went for the one of the more difficult trails hoping to see how many flights of stairs it would equal by the end.  We agreed to meet back at the car in 45 minutes.  Of course, minutes after I took this picture, the clouds began to clear, and it went from a nice cool day to walk to a seriously hot day.  I don’t do well in the heat, but I made it around the trail stopping once at a bench to catch my breath, have some water, and get a little shade.  When we met up again, my husband was happy to report that he’d climbed enough hills to equal 27 flights of stairs.

One A Week Photo Challenge: Spiral

OAWPC: Spiral (Wild Daffodil)

My older Sister lived in NYC for a few years starting unfortunately in August 2001.  After 9/11 happened I went to visit her and see with my own eyes that she and her husband were really OK.  My Sister met me at the airport and we made our way back to NYC.  It was late at night and I was exhausted from my flight across the country.  As we entered her building with my large suitcase full of Christmas presents, I found myself at the bottom of these stairs that spiraled up.  My Sister confirmed what I was beginning to realize.  There was no elevator.  Thankfully my brother in law came down the stairs and carried my suitcase up.  I don’t know if I would have made it to their apartment on the 5th and top floor if he hadn’t.  We went up and down those stairs everyday as we set out to explore the city.  We also enjoyed the joys of delivery when it was too cold to go back out for dinner or to bring the groceries we didn’t want to lug up the stairs.  My Sister found out over the years that she could have all kinds of things delivered for which she was grateful.  It seems NYC was first in delivery systems the rest of us are just beginning to enjoy with apps like Postmates, TaskRabbit, and DoorDash just to name a few.

Do you push the elevator button more than once? Do you really believe it makes the elevator faster?

Not usually, but if I’m in a hurry or feeling impatient I do.  No, I don’t believe it makes the elevator come faster, but it does make me feel like I am doing something.  If there are lots of people around I try not to do it, instead I make a game of which elevator is coming first.

Do you plan out things usually or do you do them more spontaneous (for example if you are visiting a big city you don’t know?)

I guess I do a little planning.  I look to see what’s there, if there are any special or free events happening in the city, and make a list of the “must see” places.  The “must see” places come first and then we explore around those places.  Though if there are free days at museums or street festivals, those factor in to which days we see things.

Describe yourself in at least four uplifting words.

Determined, caring, loving, helpful

If you had a choice which would be your preference salt water beaches, fresh water lakes, ocean cruise, hot tub, ski resort or desert?

Salt water beaches for sure.  The smell of the fresh air, the sound of the waves, the feel of the sand in my toes.  My mood always lifts the closer I get to a beach.

Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for all the walking I got done last week.  I moved my walks up from 20 minutes to 30 minutes and I even made it to the gym.  Though by the end of the week I was completely exhausted because I pushed myself just a little too much.  I have had to rest these past 4 days, but I am feeling a little better today which I hope means I can get back to walking, but maybe not so fast as I was going last week, so I don’t tire myself out so badly.

This week I am looking forward to getting back out there.  I am also looking forward to getting my essential oils kit.  I have used oils a little over the years, but I finally decided I want to try more as it seems every time I look up a remedy for something, oil recipes keep coming up, so I got myself a starter kit and a diffuser from my friend who sells them.  I also think that part of my excitement also has to do with not only wanting to concentrate better, sleep better, etc., but also the getting to experiment like a mad scientist, trying recipes, tweaking recipes, and seeing what really works.  Have any of you used essential oils and found a particular recipe that really worked for you?  Please share it in the comments if so, I’d love to hear about it.

Sunday Trees – 278

Sunday Trees – 278 (Becca Givens)

Spring is almost here and the CherrY Trees are in full bloom.  Some of them have even fully shredded all their blossoms.  I came across this pretty pink one while I was picking up the kids last week.  And look at those blue skies.  I miss the clouds and the rain.  The temps are already going up around here.  This week we are destined for 80 degree weather.  I wish if it wasn’t going to rain, that it would at least be cool for awhile.  I’m not ready for summer yet.  Well, here’s to another great week.  I have been walking almost everyday though I had to rest a lot this weekend, but I am hoping I can get back to it this week.  I gotta keep moving forward and at least I have gotten to the part where I am starting to enjoy walking again.  WOO-HOO!!!
