Sunday Trees 253 (Becca Givens)

These are the Palm trees that line my street.  Just out of site below the trees are the many apartment buildings and craziness of the neighborhood I live in.  There is constant noise from kids playing, music blasting, people out on the street talking in a variety of languages, fire engines blaring, ice cream trucks singing, babies crying and Mexican snack venders with their horns beeping till after dark.  We moved here from the quiet of living up in the hills where neighbors were sparse and noise was only that made by the wind in the trees and the wildlife.  It was overwhelming at first, but now it’s weird and almost scary when it gets quiet like it did the other day when we randomly lost electricity.  It was sooooooo quiet.  Everyone that was home (it happened in the mid morning hours) went out into the street.  It was like we were drawn together to make sure that it wasn’t just a dream.  I live on the top floor of my apartment building and it’s nice at times to be able to see over it all.  To crop out the craziness and see only the beauty of the skies above.  I am so looking forward to Fall days and cloudy skies like this one.
